Pulitzer Treason ?

Patriotic Bar Showing Stars and Stripes

Should We Have Something Called The Pulitzer Treason Awards?

Should the latest threats and revelations make us reflect on the reality that media figures are being rewarded for actions that more and more seem to be threatening American lives?

Today's IRS Tax Tip

The following article was written before the latest terrorist threat at London's Heathrow Airport and before the New York Times presented the terrorists with yet another counter terrorism measure of ours, i.e. tracking the movement of terrorist money through international banks.

Let’s take a look at the winners of this year’s Pulitzer Prizes:

There is Dana Priest.

Dana Priest of The Washington Post reported that the CIA was using secret prisons in Eastern Europe to interrogate terrorists.

It has been reported, that an E.U. investigation of the U.S. secret sites in Europe turned up nothing. Time should shed more light on this.

For Dana Priest’s part, she gets a leak from a leaker. She then writes a story which helps no U.S. citizen that I can think of. What she and the leaker provide, is likely, valuable information and propaganda for those who would kill as many Americans as possible.

And so she receives her prize.

Is this Pulitzer Treason?

Today's IRS Tax Tip

Two more great Americans from the New York Times, James Risen and Eric Lichtblau won Pulitzers when they let us know that the NSA intercepts calls and e-mails between terror suspects calling from outside the U.S. to someone here in the U.S

Liberals are aghast at such safety measures that protect U.S. citizens, but frightened at whatever the dangerous George W. Bush wants to do to them.

Other winners were Mike Luckovich, a very left leaning cartoonist from the very left leaning Atlanta Journal Constitution, and Robin Givhan, of what else- the left leaning, Washington Post, she, described by one writer as “the catty fashion critic” of that publication.

In recent months one of Givhan’s great contributions to America, was a highly critical piece devoted exclusively to Dick Cheney’s wardrobe.

President Bush had pleaded with the Washington Post and the New York Times not to let this information out, for fear it would jeopardize the safety of Americans.

Ah but leftists must always be “objective” even if, by coincidence, America and George Bush are made to look bad, and American lives, likely endangered.

Almost at the same time these awards are given, we find out a top CIA official, coincidentally a big Kerry supporter, is fired, for leaking classified information. Democrats rush to her defense as a “whistleblower”, suggesting that her leaking is good leaking and legal leaking.

All this is happening while we have a special prosecutor for Lewis Libbey over a CIA agent, being outed from her desk job, presenting no danger to her, in which Libbey is not charged with the outing but charged with perjury over what he originally recalled about the circumatances that outed Plame from her desk job. Make sense? Ah, but Libby worked for Dick Cheney.

Three months ago a former Defense Department analyst was sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison for disclosing classified information, even though a federal judge agreed with the defendant’s statement, that he did not intend to damage the U.S. by revealing government secrets to two employees of a pro-Israel lobbying group and an Israeli embassy official. Yes that Israel, the one that's our ally.

So the leftist reporters, get their prizes, for endangering all of us. There are no pending charges against the reporters or those who leaked to them, the fired CIA officer is getting backing from top Democrats, while a leaker with no leftist credentials, gets 12 and a half years and a former assistant to VP Cheney is under indictment for lying but not charged in any way with the original leak charge, over this big nothing, in the Plame case.

Pulitzer Treason?

Let’s hope Americans and future journalists get to realize that if you want to win a Pulitzer Prize today, for what use to be excellence in journalism, make sure you detest conservatism, are willing to share national secrets with al Queda and the terrorist world, and have no worry that Americans, maybe in the millions may be killed by your efforts.

Several months back, Ralph Peters, who writes for the New York Post wrote and article, titled, Spies and Lies and Treason in which he concluded with the following:

“So I would ask three questions of those journalists chasing prizes by printing our wartime secrets:

  • Can you honestly claim to have done our nation any good?
  • Did you weigh the harm your act might cause, including the loss of    American lives?
  • Is the honorable patriotism of Edward R. Murrow truly dead in American    journalism?
  • If you draw a government (or contractor) paycheck and willfully compromise classified material, you should go to jail.

If you are a journalist in receipt of classified information and you publish it to the benefit of our enemies, you should go to jail you may, however, still accept your journalism prize, as long as the trophy has no sharp edges).

And consider yourself fortunate: The penalty for treason used to be death.

When a journalist is given classified information, his or her first call shouldn't be to an editor. It should be to the FBI.”

Have leakers become a serious threat to their fellow citizens?

Isn’t it time for Congress to take this problem out of the hands of judges and journalists and give the office of the president the power he needs to remove the threat of terrorists and leakers.

Maybe this would end Pulitzer Treason.
