Obama's Liberal Shiver

By Froma Harrop

Full article Froma Harrop RCP

Excerpts:

Watching liberals grope for first aid as Barack Obama does an about-face on their most cherished issues, one recalls a scene from the 1950 movie "All About Eve."

Theater critic Addison DeWitt takes great offense when a manipulative young actress tries to sneak her schemes past him. He snarls, "Is it possible, even conceivable, that you've confused me with that gang of backward children you play tricks on -- that you have the same contempt for me as you have for them?"

Obama has indeed shown contempt, or at least insensitivity, toward the thinking liberals who handed over their hearts based on his stances concerning -- among other things -- warrantless wiretapping, campaign finance reform and our continued presence in Iraq.

More From Dodd Than 'Trust Me'

Kevin Rennie | NOW YOU KNOW

June 29, 2008

Full article Courant.Com

Excerpts:

'I would never take 'trust me' for an answer, not even in the best of times. Not even from a president on Mount Rushmore." So declared Sen. Christopher J. Dodd last week on the floor of the U.S. Senate during a debate on government surveillance.

Dodd declared he will not trust our leaders unless he gets to see certain national security documents. Dodd insists, however, that we trust him when he says he didn't know he received special treatment when he borrowed nearly $800,000 from Countrywide Financial Corp. in 2003.

Dodd continues to refuse to release the standard documents (commitment letters, good-faith estimates of costs and fee summaries) that accompany every residential mortgage. They might confirm Dodd's contention that he received the same deal that anyone shopping the rates could have secured in the spring of 2003. Or maybe they won't. He said Tuesday he would release documents "at some point." More than two weeks after the public learned Dodd received "VIP treatment" from Countrywide, he doesn't think we're at that crucial point.

Pandering to women, Barack Obama twists truth on equal pay

By Carrie Lukas

Tuesday, June 24th 2008, 7:06 PM

Full article Carrie Lucas NY DAILY NEWS

Excerpts:

For a "new" kind of politics, Barack Obama's rhetoric sounds awfully familiar. The senator from Illinois may decry his critics as practicing "old politics," yet he freely employs one of the most shopworn political tactics when pandering to women.

At an event this week in New Mexico, Obama repeated the misleading claim that "women still earn only 77 cents for every dollar earned by men," and dismissed the notion that factors other than discrimination explain the wage gap as "just totally wrong."

Yet even the organizations that champion the most aggressive government action in the name of equal pay acknowledge that most of the wage gap is a result of men and women's different choices related to work, not employment discrimination. A 2007 report from The American Association of University Women, for instance, found that most of the wage gap could be explained by factors such as employment, education and personal choices. Pay differential wasn't just the result of sexism in the workplace.

Keith Olbermann, liar

Full article Power Line

Excerpts

Observers of the insane clown posse on MSNBC -- observers such as Ed Morrissey, for example -- noticed the classless comments made by Chris Matthews to Keith Olbermann on Olbermann's "Countdown" show in connection with the death of Tim Russert. "It may be tricky to say this, and I'll say it," Matthews said, introducing his weirdly derogatory remembrance of Russert.

Matthews said that Russert had believed the administration's assertion that Saddam was trying to get nuclear weapons and that Russert was "an everyman" for believing it. Matthews was giving Russert what was at best a backhanded compliment, essentially portraying the just-deceased Russert as a dupe. Watch the video for yourself here.

On Monday Olbermann promoted my friend Andrew Breitbart as the Worst Person in the World throughout "Countdown." Breitbart's photograph was displayed and Andrew was given reason to get excited. In the event, however, Olbermann conferred the honor collectively on FOX News because of an observation Andrew had made in a segment on "FOX and Friends" that morning. The "FOX and Friends" segment with Breitbart talking about Russert can be seen here.

A Conspiracy So Lunatic...Only 60 Minutes could fall for it.

by John H. Hinderaker

Full article John H. Hinderaker Weekly Standard

Excerpts:

Jill Simpson is an unusual woman. A lawyer, she has scratched out an uncertain living in DeKalb County, Alabama. Fellow DeKalb County lawyers describe her as "a very strange person" who "lives in her own world." The daughter of rabid Democrats, she has rarely if ever been known to participate in politics as even a low-level volunteer. Yet today, she is a minor celebrity who is unvaryingly described in the press as a "Republican operative." Those who know her in DeKalb County scoff at the idea that she is a Republican at all.

Recently, Simpson's house and law office were on the auction block. Rumor has it that she is leaving DeKalb County for good and heading for the suburbs of Washington, D.C. Jill Simpson, who barely got by in Alabama, is now toasted by the national Democratic party and featured on network and cable news. All this because she has testified--without a shred of supporting evidence--to a conspiracy so vast as to be not just implausible, but ridiculous.

Simpson claims to have participated in a phone conversation with several Alabama Republicans in which she was made privy to a plot involving the Republican governor of Alabama, Bob Riley, a former justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, a federal judge, two United States attorneys, several assistant United States attorneys, the Air Force, and, apparently 12 jurors, to "railroad" former governor Don Siegelman into his 2006 conviction for bribery and mail fraud. Every person whose name Simpson has invoked has labeled her storya fantasy, including Siegelman; she claimed to have played a key role both in his giving up his unsuccessful contest of the 2002 gubernatorial election and in his defense of the criminal charges against him.

###

Lying was very dominant during the Clinton Administration.

Spin by Democratic talking heads was truly sickening.

Bill Clinton told blatant lies to the American public before even taking office.

Among those, was his affair with Gennifer Flowers, only to admit later, when faced with another perjury charge, that he had committed adultery with her. He later told another lie, saying he had been with her just one time.

Bill went on to prove that he was a blatant and irrefutable liar and perjurer, starting with lies to his wife and daughter, then to his cabinet and other close aides, then to the whole world, when he wagged that finger at us, while showing his anger in response to the Lewinsky matter.

The point of all this is when any of us call a person a liar, it should not be interpretive. It was not in any way interpretive to call Bill Clinton a liar.

He was faced with questions that if answered a certain way did not allow interpretation. To give one answer would have been the truth, to give the opposite would be a 100% lie, one that could never be called anything else. Bill chose on more than one occasion to tell irrefutable lies.

If not for the "stain" on Monica's dress, there is no doubt in my mind that Bill, like O.J., would still be doing what he has done for his entire life.

Did Al Franken, David Corn or others who have thrown the word liar around on a regular basis since 2001, discuss it during the eight years of non-stop deception and unbelievable spin that took place during the Clinton Presidency

Franken’s book has the childish title ”Lies and the Lying Liars Who tell Them” and Corn’s is titled “The Lies of George W. Bush”, subtle these titles aren’t .

Possibly, left wing fruit cakes found great merit in these books. Mature adults who like to think objectively, would not, in my opinion, commit precious time to such amateurish nonsense.

Bill Clinton was probably the biggest liar of all Presidents. George Bush is not a liar.

With some exceptions, Democrats have consistently lost elections. Their anger, hypocrisy and lying has probably had much to do with those losses.

Presently, they are reveling in the Mark Foley scandal. This may even increase their chances of capturing one or both bodies of congress.

If they do, chances are it won’t last.

The Democratic Party does not seem to want to let go of its hypocrisy or bad habit of lying.
